Awards

Each participant will receive a pin for every group routine they perform in. Solo and Duo/Trio participants will be awarded individual medals. For Groups, Lines, and Productions, one medal will be awarded per entry. 

HIGH SCORE SOLO AWARDS/ SOLO TITLE AWARDS 

The following age divisions in Competitive Level will receive awards from 10th through 2nd Place:

 

  • 5-7 Mini

  • 8-9 Petite

  • 10-11 Junior

  • 12-13 PreTeen

  • 14-15 Teen

  • 16-19 Senior Teen

 

Solo Title

 

  • 1st Place in each age division will also be awarded the Mr./Miss Throw Down Title for their respective category:

    • Mr./Miss Mini Throw Down

    • Mr./Miss Petite Throw Down

    • Mr./Miss Junior Throw Down

    • Mr./Miss PreTeen Throw Down

    • Mr./Miss Teen Throw Down

    • Mr./Miss Senior Teen Throw Down​​

 

Solo Awards and Titles
  • High Scores:

    • If a divisional level has 35+ solo entries, the top 15 will be announced for high scores.

  • Mr./Miss Throw Down Title:

    • Awarded in each solo division: Mini, Petite, Junior, PreTeen, Teen, and Sr. Teen.

    • Number of awards depends on the number of entries.

      • Example: With 9 entries in Mini, awards go to 5th through 2nd place, and 1st place gets the title.

    • Title winners receive a sash, crown, trophy, and a $50 cash award (minimum of 10 entries required for cash).

    • Male and female dancers are combined for cash awards.

 

Intermediate Solos:

  • High Score Awards are given in all divisions (Mini, Petite, Junior, PreTeen, Teen, Sr. Teen).

  • At least 3 entries are required to qualify for a High Score Solo.

  • Titles are not awarded for Intermediate solos.

  • Special Note:

    • If there are no Competitive solos in Mini or Petite, titles will be awarded to Intermediate Level solos instead.

Duo/Trio High Score Awards
 

Intermediate & Competitive Levels

The following age divisions will receive awards from 10th through 1st Place:

  • 5-7 Mini

  • 8-9 Petite

  • 10-11 Junior

  • 12-13 PreTeen

  • 14-15 Teen

  • 16-19 Sr. Teen

 

Award Details

  • A trophy will be given to each place awarded.

  • A $50 cash prize will be awarded to the 1st Place winners (a minimum of 10 entries required for cash awards).

Small and Large Group High Score Awards
 

Intermediate & Competitive Levels

The following age divisions will receive awards from 10th through 1st Place:

  • 5-7 Mini

  • 8-9 Petite

  • 10-11 Junior

  • 12-13 PreTeen

  • 14-15 Teen

  • 16-19 Sr. Teen

 

Award Details

  • A trophy will be given to each place awarded.

  • 1st Place will receive a $100 cash prize (competitive level only).

  • A minimum of 15 groups in each division is required for cash awards to be given.

Line/Production High Score Awards

 

Competitive Level Only

The following age divisions will receive awards from 10th through 1st Place:

  • 11 & Under

  • 12 & Up

 

Award Details

  • A banner will be given to each place awarded.

  • 1st Place will receive a $100 cash prize.

  • A minimum of 10 groups in each division is required for cash awards to be given.​​

 

Intermediate level

  • Small groups and large groups may compete against each other if necessary to ensure awards are given.

Category Placement

 

Intermediate & Competitive Levels

 

During adjudication, the top three in each category per age group will be announced. To qualify for placement, there must be at least four entries in each category. The top three will receive a medal in addition to their adjudication trophy.  

 

Ultimate Emotion Award  

 

11 & Under and 12 & Up

 

This award is presented to any routine that demonstrates exceptional emotional commitment throughout the entire performance.  

 

Best in Genre 

 

Intermediate & Competitive Levels  

 

Solos, Duo/Trios, Groups, and Lines are eligible to compete for Best in Genre awards (e.g., jazz, ballet, tap, lyrical, etc.). A minimum of 4 entries in a genre is required to qualify. These awards will be presented in both 11 & Under and 12 & Up divisions.

Throw Down Dance Off! (Entertainment Award)

 

Intermediate & Competitive Levels

 

Our judging panel will select group and line/production routines to "Throw It Down" one more time! All previous scores are reset, and these routines will perform the first 1:30 of their routine. Selections will be based on high technical skills, theatricality, energy, commitment, and overall entertainment value.

  • Junior (11 & Under) and Senior (12 & Over) routines will compete separately.

  • Intermediate & Competitive Levels will compete together.

  • The Junior Throw Down Dance Off Winner and Senior Throw Down Dance Off Winner will each receive a Throw Down 4ft Trophy.

 

Please note: Dancer repetition may occur, so cooperation with fast costume changes and prop setup/takedown is required.

Choreography Award

 

Intermediate & Competitive Levels

This award will be decided by our judging panel, focusing on creativity, originality, formation and pattern changes, and the proper use of all dancers. All group, line, and production routines qualify for this award, with separate awards for 11 & Under and 12 & Up divisions.

Costume Award

 

11 & Under and 12 & Up.  Judges will evaluate design, creativity, fit, and workmanship. All entries are eligible for this award.

TDDC Pro Award

Awarded to the studio that best demonstrates sportsmanship, professionalism, and proper backstage etiquette. This award will be selected by the competition director and staff.

Special Judges Award

These awards are given by the judges to recognize routines or individuals with special qualities. All entries qualify for this award.

Diamond Award
 

Competitive Level Only

This prestigious award is given to the highest scores in the competition.

  • Junior Diamond Award (11 & Under)

  • Senior Diamond Award (12 & Up)
    Solos, Duo/Trios, Groups, Lines, and Productions all qualify.

Best of the Best Award

 

Competitive Level Only

Awarded to the highest score of the entire competition. A $100 cash prize will be given to the higher score between the Junior Diamond Winner and the Senior Diamond Winner.

High Score Studio Award

 

Competitive Level Only

This award will be given to one studio at each regional event. The studio's score will be determined by calculating the top five Group, Line, and Production routines from that studio. The studio with the highest score will receive the High Score Studio Award, along with a 5ft trophy and a $200 cash prize.

  • A minimum of 200 entries is required for the cash prize to be awarded.

  • For 1-day events, a minimum of 150 entries is required for a $150 cash prize.
